A Really Interesting Day!

Here's a list of some interesting days that is being recognized whether on a national level, or even around the globe. While some of these were created to raise awareness of something that matters to humanity, others, I think, are just a marketing ploy.

1. World Water Day – March 22. This was started in 1993 by the  United Nations to create awareness for water conservation for future generations.


2. Purple Day - March 26. This started in 2008 to raise awareness of epilepsy. Everyone is encouraged to wear anything  purple.

3. Mothers Day- observed every second Sunday of May to celebrate motherhood and give salute to mothers around the world. It was first celebrated in the US in 1908.

4. World Goth Day – May 22. This was created to raise awareness of the existence of the goth scene. It started in the UK in 2009.


5. Geek Pride Day - May 25 – It started in Spain in 2008 and is designed to promote geek culture. It is now being observed worldwide.

6. National Donut Day ( US) – every first Friday of June - this was created in 1938 by the Salvation Army for the men and women who served donuts to the army during World War 1.

7. Father's Day – third Sunday of June. celebrate fatherhood and honor fathers. It was inaugurated in the US in the early 20th century to complement Mother's Day

8. Junk Food Day (US) – July 21

9. Ice Cream Day ( US) – every third Sunday of July. The whole month of July is ice cream month. This is actually a Presidential Proclamation signed by Ronald Reagan in 1984.

10. International Friendship Day – July 30. Originally created by Hallmark in 1930 to celebrate friendships, this became international when Paraguay held a celebration  1958.
